REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
Alarond says that a quiet thief gets rich. Maybe we should try a little quiet
thieving, as rich would certainly be convenient, eh? Do you suppose we could, hmm,
steal warriors from other arenas on the Isle? That might pay good dividends here!
And why? Because we only had seventeen fights today. True, no standbys fought,
or if they did, I can't find 'em on my list. But still, only thirty-four warriors
active. Sad. At least, sad up to a point. But we DID have seventeen fights, and a
good crowd in the stands. Managers who have been taking necessary, hard-earned rests
from the burden of management are returning and taking notice. Seven of our fights
were challenge matches, and one was even a tv challenge. So it isn't all bad.
Dark Toads were avoided by Slytherin House, which tells you that those two
managers were paying attention. Good work! Zalgor Prigg tW got the most challenges.
More than the Champion of the Horn, which isn't saying much, because HE didn't get
any. Ah, well. We must make haste slowly here.
So, the fights--
WAIS (65-6447) (20-30-0,66) of DARK TOADS fought TAMRISSA (38-4153) (18-11-0,73)
of BLENDING ENTHRONED. WAIS overpowered TAMRISSA in an exciting 1 minute one-sided
match. I don't know about exciting, or where the one-sided bit comes from; it looked
even to me. Maybe that was the exciting part.
JAMMIES (74-2829) (62-67-1,158) of DARKLINGS fought DAMORETH STENN (65-6105)
(42-42-0,127) of SAND DANCERS. JAMMIES was devastated by DAMORETH STENN in a popular
1 minute mismatched brawl. It would appear that Damoreth Stenn is not one of those
warriors who is gravely handicapped by a death and resurrection. What an odd thing
to be good at!
ROBERTO LEATHAM (65-6232) (30-32-1,185) of SPLIT INFINITY fought UHLEK (38-4234)
(18-10-2,152) of DARK TOADS. ROBERTO LEATHAM devastated UHLEK in an exciting 1
minute uneven duel. I can't help it, maybe there's something wrong with me, but it
takes me more than one minute to get excited. Now, if we were viewing the fights
through one of those slow-action spells, where a minute lasts a lot LONGER, maybe
that would be different. Of course, there are situations where a minute seems like a
VERY long time, and I have no doubt that it sometimes feels like that for gladiators,
but....
CORT NIGHTJEWEL (78-196) (55-80-0,188) of THE DRAGON FIST fought TAIRIKIA (51-
4247) (74-78-0,190) of SAND DANCERS. CORT NIGHTJEWEL was handily defeated by
TAIRIKIA in a 2 minute one-sided conflict. She's still working on that winning
record, I see. And--no offense, Cort--she's got a better chance of getting it than
many.
SHYLOCK (75-2602) (42-37-1,208) of DARK TOADS fought CYLADIA (51-1122) (98-111-
0,206) of SKAITHVARN. SHYLOCK demolished CYLADIA in a popular 1 minute mismatched
match. Does this mean that Cyladia does NOT have to worry about Induction in her
immediate future?
NIGHTCAP (74-2745) (67-89-0,187) of DARKLINGS fought SMOLDER DARKSUN (78-513)
(76-64-3,208) of THE DRAGON FIST. NIGHTCAP was overcome by SMOLDER DARKSUN in a 2
minute contest. Never leave a fire smoldering when you got to bed, Nightcap. You
see what happens.
VALLANT (38-4151) (40-18-2,187) of BLENDING ENTHRONED fought KHORA THE SMALL
(78-519) (117-138-3,199) of SAND DANCERS. VALLANT was overpowered by KHORA THE SMALL
in an exciting 1 minute one-sided fight. Unlucky match for you, Vallant. Khora just
OOZES experience, and she's, ahem, testy. Even, perhaps, short-tempered.
DEADBOLT (70-1664) (81-101-2,215) of SCARLET KNIGHTS fought BAT (74-2742) (79-
78-1,186) of DARKLINGS. DEADBOLT defeated BAT in an action packed 1 minute match.
But not, fortunately (for Bat) by knocking him dead with a bolt. What kind of bolt?
A big old carriage bolt, such as are used to fasten houses to their foundations? An
eye bolt, so it can see where it hits?
TALON WARSMITH (99-101) (73-89-8,246) of SCARLET KNIGHTS fought NIGHTFALL (74-
2421) (97-96-3,193) of DARKLINGS. TALON WARSMITH lost to NIGHTFALL in a popular 1
minute duel. Not something he expected, but it does happen, even to former Champions
of the Horn.
The challenge matches:
GREGORY GOYLE (74-3497) (24-25-1,76) of SLYTHERIN HOUSE challenged GISELLA (74-
2704) (23-14-0,77) of CHEYSULI & LIR. Up 1. GREGORY GOYLE devastated GISELLA in a 3
minute one-sided Challenge competition. A home-town match, even though these two
warriors weren't fighting in Dayla Kiv at the same time. It would appear that youth
and agression beats sitting on the bench for a few years. Who could have guessed?
VINCENT CRABBE (74-3498) (32-18-2,100) of SLYTHERIN HOUSE challenged ESSINA TYL
VERN (75-2694) (19-52-1,110) of SAND DANCERS. Up 10. VINCENT CRABBE viciously
subdued ESSINA TYL VERN in a 4 minute Challenge fight. Yes, I can see now--I have
seen for some time--that Essina's going to regret letting some Toad talk her into
being active on the Isle. One of these days she's going to borrow a towel and throw
it in.
THE QUICKLING (70-1669) (52-123-2,122) of SCARLET KNIGHTS challenged DARLINA
(74-2995) (38-26-2,138) of SAND DANCERS. Up 16. THE QUICKLING was subdued by
DARLINA in a 1 minute Challenge competition. A bit of a surprise, considering the
experience difference. But that's one of the things that keeps the bookies in
business.
TOM RIDDLE (74-3501) (31-18-2,159) of SLYTHERIN HOUSE challenged THOMAS (82-
14150) (11-11-1,180) of TOADS OF KRONDUR II. Up 21. TOM RIDDLE was dealt death by
THOMAS in a popular 1 minute Challenge fight. Now, THIS was a hard fate! And just
for asking a silly little insoluble riddle.
KYRLANIA (70-2327) (63-100-1,180) of SCARLET KNIGHTS challenged TORYN TYL DAGEDA
(74-2777) (64-65-4,187) of SAND DANCERS. Up 7. KYRLANIA defeated TORYN TYL DAGEDA
in a crowd pleasing 1 minute Challenge duel. And good work, Kyrlania, hard luck,
Toryn.
ZALMARDARIN (78-312) (49-90-3,183) of THE DRAGON FIST challenged KING LOVE (40-
3748) (26-29-2,184) of SUNNYLAND. Up 1. ZALMARDARIN was viciously subdued by KING
LOVE in a 1 minute Challenge battle. Love beats a fist, eh? Who would have guessed?
Our TV challenge: DRACO MALFOY (74-3500) (28-12-1,195) of SLYTHERIN HOUSE TV
challenged ZALGOR PRIGG (82-15204) (34-20-0,211) of MUTANT LEAGUE II. Up 16. DRACO
MALFOY bested ZALGOR PRIGG in a crowd pleasing 1 minute Challenge fight.
Congratulations to Draco on having the TV challenge to use.
And for the Horn: DARKMOON BLACKFELL (75-862) (92-70-3,255) of SCARLET KNIGHTS
fought TREMERE (9-4915) (41-13-0,238) of DARK TOADS. DARKMOON BLACKFELL vanquished
TREMERE in a popular 1 minute uneven Title duel. A random match, no column, but who
knows, there may be a column next time. Good cess to the both of you.

PERSONAL CORRESPONDENCE
Zalgor Prigg -- I don't know where you were attacking since you were hitting me all
over, but they were all mighty blows so it doesn't really matter. Well fought, sir.
-- Nightfall
Zalmardarin -- If this keeps up I may have a winning record in a few months. Ugh.
Primus comes after that, I think, for someone as experienced as I am. Please try a
little harder to win next time. You should be able to beat a small woman armed with
a chisel! -- Cyladia
Tairikia -- I can think of better things to do. Fighting brings in an income of
sorts, and then I use it to buy materials for my sculptures. However, if you had
something particularly interesting in mind, I would like to hear it. -- Cyladia
Tom Riddle -- Sorry; I hope you've stopped peeing blood now. With our difference in
experience, I should've taught you something. Maybe you already knew the skills I
was ready to show you. -- Bat
Toryn tyl Dageda -- Ow! I still have a headache. They claim you're fully healed,
you know, but I wonder. -- Jammies
Larkin -- Those flowing sleeves looked sexy enough to get me a date, though. And
they didn't really interfere. I would've lost anyway. Toryn is very good. --
Jammies
P.S. And I have never worn footed pajamas, even in my personal life. I sleep nude.
I'd think your feet would get cold.
Darlina -- I hope the leg is all right. Jammies says the healers aren't as good as
they used to be. -- Nightcap
Larkin -- I cannot speak for the other managers here, I'll let them not speak for
themselves, but I know that after the hectic few weeks before and during a
tournament, I like to take a couple of weeks or so off of having to manage all my
warriors. So I let them take care of themselves for a turn or two. Unfortunately I
have noticed a tendency that when left to their own devices, warriors are lazy bunch
and will not bother to challenge or avoid anyone or even try anything new in their
strategies. They also fail to make their voices heard in the newsletter. So really
it is not a case of managers being lazy, but their warriors just not picking up the
slack. I mean after all the work a manager does you could think a warrior would
bother to do something on their own every once in a while, but no. Fortunately, I am
back this turn and will see to it that my students do all of their assigned work,
including challenges and personal ads. -- Rillion
You're right! Bunch of bums, those warriors! Lazy. But "tourney exhaustion,"
provided it doesn't last forever, sounds like a reasonable explanation.
Deadbolt -- You got lucky, bloke! If it were not for my horrible luck (and mediocre
endurance), I would be unbeatable! -- Draco Malfoy
Bat -- Ouch, you are one quick bludger! -- Tom Riddle
Tamarissa -- Is it my imagination or was that Deju Vu all over again? I am going to
challenge someone this turn because beating you up three turns in a row is getting
redundantly repetitive. -- Vincent Crabbe
It can't have been Deju Vu, he fights--or used to--in Free Blades. A Karnhorn.
Wais -- Wow, I did not realize there was someone here I could beat without being
fortunate enough to have their weapon break! -- Gregory Goyle
Darkmoon Blackfell -- Well done, though it pains me to admit it. (It would pain me
less if you didn't hit so hard!) And a Champion's column, too--excellent. -- Khora
the Small
P.S. I wish I could believe that your continuing victories will delay my own
Induction.
Thomas -- Yeah, all right, it wasn't EXACTLY your fault, since the damned orderlies
dropped me five times on the way to the Infirmary. But still, if you hadn't been so
violent in the first place, there wouldn't have been any NEED for the orderlies to be
carrying me to the Infirmary. -- Damoreth Stenn the really cranky and annoyed
Jammies -- You're so cute in those drop-seat pjs. And I loved having you on your
knees to me. I really did. -- Toryn tyl Dageda
Uhlek -- My thanks. That is one of several I will need to regain my winning record,
and every winning streak, after all, begins with a single win. This, I hope, is the
beginning of something really good. -- Tairikia
Nightcap -- (muzzily) Wha' wash in 'at flashk? -- Darlina
The Quickling -- You have done me no favor, sir! They're all LAUGHING at me over at
our place for losing to you. I'm not sure why. Sure, your record is something like
1:2.5, but then, so's mine, and you have a lot MORE fights than I do, so...? Why
shouldn't you beat me? -- Essina tyl Vern
Cyladia -- What would be the POINT of all this if we weren't getting better? --
Tairikia
Kyrlania -- Catsup stains? -- Damoreth Stenn
The Quickling -- These days, they give you drugs if you admit to rapid mood changes.
Conceal it. -- Toryn tyl Dageda

Youngblood's Three and Out Contest
I would like to take this time to announce and invite all managers to compete in what
I think will be an awesome contest. If you haven't ever TC'd at a tourney before,
here is your chance. The contest will start Wednesday, December 1, 2004, but a
chance will be given November 17 to dark arena, only, any warrior that you do not see
fit to run in the contest. So now that I have your attention, here are the rules
(like you didn't know they were coming sooner or later).
1. Any manager participating can enter one team, only.
2. No sandbagging whatsoever. (I will keep up with it, every turn.)
3. No teams or warriors will be allowed to run after contest starts.
4. All warriors will run until they lose three times, after three losses they are
eliminated.
5. If a warrior sits out a turn, they are accounted with a loss in the contest.
This is to keep warriors with winning records from sitting out until the end of
the contest.
6. If a warrior is killed during the contest, the replacement cannot enter the
contest.
7. If a warrior is killed, bloodfeuding is allowed, but only by a warrior that is
active in the contest.
8. If a warrior is run after being eliminated, the manager is disqualified from the
contest, no questions asked.
9. Challenges are legal, up or down.
10. Contest will keep going until 1 warrior is left without three losses, and that
warrior, of course, is accounted the winner.
11. All managers participating will be asked to purchase a rollup certificate, to be
awarded to the winners of the contest.
<<<PRIZES>>>
As I have already said, and according to participation, rollups will be awarded
to the first and second place managers. So the majority and minority of the rollups
will be determined when all are accumulated.
Contest Champion--2 Faves prizes, and majority of rollup certificates
Contest Runner-up--1 Faves prize, and minority of rollup certificates
So once again I invite all managers old and new to participate in what should be
a fierce and challenging contest. <<<REMEMBER, FIRST OFFICIAL TURN OF THE CONTEST IS
DECEMBER THE FIRST, AND AS I SAID BEFORE, THE TURN BEFORE (NOVEMBER 17TH) YOU MAY
DARK ARENA CHALLENGE ONLY!!! ANY WARRIOR WITH ANY FE (FIGHT EXPERIENCE) WHEN THE
CONTEST STARTS WILL BE ELIMINATED FROM THE CONTEST.

All you alliance-type people, I'm trying (again!) to get my alliance listing correct
and up to date. Either send me a diplo (address it to The Saint) or send your
updates to me directly at Sue at solberg-mathews.com. As you may guess, replace the
at with @ and you're good to go (I do hate spammy mail and this will end up on the
web).
I have information on the following alliances: ADIO, Allied Axis, Armada,
Brotherhood of Justice, Brotherhood of the Blade, Cadre, CDC, Chaos, Inc., Circle of
Order, Company of Brothers, Consortium, Council of Lords, Couple Good Guys, Crimson
Vengeance, DOA, DOOMcorps, Enigmafia, Eurosquad, Fascist Federation, FONZ,
Frothingslosh Syndicate, GAPPDA, Homeland Alliance, IT Alliance, Jingoists, kLk,
Knights of the Covenant, LBA, League Arcane, Legion6, Living Essences, Lords and
Ladies of Darkness, Manic Union, Midnight Foundation, Minions of Diana, Monarchs of
Montezuma, NCA, NIMROD, R.A.G.E., Seventh Sons, The Firm, The French Connection,
Vendett@ United, and the Vendetta Cartel.
If you are a member of one of these alliances, let me know. If you are a member of
some other alliance that isn't listed, let me know. If you were at any point in your
past a part of one of these alliance but are now independent, also let me know.
Going inactive doesn't mean you get removed from this list; people are assumed to
still be in the same alliance when they return. Even having everyone in an alliance
go inactive doesn't change anything. If an alliance is officially disbanding, that's
another thing you have to let me know....
The Saint, keeper of lists
P.S. If you already responded to my online plea (and I replied), you can ignore
this.

Hammer 500-Hammer Run for the Roll Ups
Hosted by Hammer
Niytyole Island DM 33 has dwindled to the point where as of T-482 [duedate
November 3, 2004] there were only 2 active stables listed with 3 inactive stables in
a once thriving and lively regular arena.
During the past 40+ cycles Hammer has been hosting the Hammer Run for the Roll
Ups in DM 33.
Thus far only the Ripper and Slasher categories have produced winners to claim
the 5 New Team Roll Ups Prize for being the first declared Style Master of their
respective categories to graduate.
Every contending stable has gone inactive for one reason or another, including
CASINO HAMMERZ, over the past several months.
Now DM 33 faces the harsh reality that if RSI chooses to close any arenas due to
little or no interest, Niytyole Island could very well head the list of endangered
regular arenas!
In an effort to preserve his beloved island, Hammer is announcing the
continuation of the Hammer Run for the Roll Ups; combined with the Hammer 500 which
will conclude both contests on T-500 [duedate July 13, 2005] should DM 33 continue to
remain open in the coming months.
Attention Hammer Runners!
The Hammer Run is for 0 FE Basic Arena Warriors ONLY. Participants MUST Be
Declared in the P-ads On or Before their First DM 33 Basic Arena Fight to Qualify as
a Hammer Runner! Winners of Each Category will receive 5 New Team Roll Up Gift
Certificates mailed from RSI courtesy of Hammer! [On the condition that they
Graduate on or before T-500; see amended rules below!]
The following Style Master categories remain open with a listing of how many
declared contestants are still entered and their W/L recognition record at the time
of their disappearance from the Hammer Run competition:

SHOULD RSI CHOOSE TO CLOSE DM 33 PRIOR TO T-500 ONLY THE HIGHEST ACTIVE DECLARED
STYLE MASTER CONTESTANTS WILL BE AWARDED TWO (2) GIFT CERTS AND ALL OTHER PRIZE
CATEGORIES WILL BE DECLARED NULL AND VOID BY HAMMER!!!!!!!!!
The purpose of this contest is to restore DM 33 to a lively and entertaining
arena!
Hammer is willing to foot the Prize bill in a last ditch effort to save Niytyole
Island from deletion if RSI and the Gladiatorial Commission decide that more arenas
need to be closed due to lack of participation and interest.
Should this effort fail to spare DM 33 from deletion, then Hammer is prepared to
transfer CASINO HAMMERZ to another arena if Niytyole Island is closed by RSI and the
Gladiatorial Commission.
