REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
Quiet around here today. If it hadn't been for Debby Tonte dropping by to see
if I wanted help with the spy report, or help drinking all the stuff she brought with
her--I don't KNOW what it is, but it's got lots of fruit in it, different kinds, and
she brought some umbrellas, too. Might be an interesting way to spend the afternoon,
since there was no need to spend long over the fights. Only fifteen fights, it just
gets smaller ever time, doesn't it? And three challenge matches, the challenges all
being issued by Rillion's warriors. Scarlet Knights were avoided by Slytherin House,
for reasons which will be clear in the personals. Nobody was most challenged.
Nobody died. There was only one standby in action today. The longest fight was five
minutes.
And except for the fight notes, that is IT.
GREGORY GOYLE (74-3497) (26-32-1,100) of SLYTHERIN HOUSE fought WITCH (75-3088)
(19-5-0,74) of THAT'S US. GREGORY GOYLE was devastated by WITCH in a 1 minute
mismatched brawl. On the one hand, if Witch was using magic in the arena, that's
Bad. But on the other, Greg is studying magic, too, so maybe he used it back, but
being a mere student, couldn't match the (magically) more experienced Witch. Or then
again, maybe not.
CORT NIGHTJEWEL (78-196) (57-87-0,148) of THE DRAGON FIST fought CHEATING
MANAGER (107-6) (0-0-0,130) of the College of Mimes. CORT NIGHTJEWEL overpowered
CHEATING MANAGER in a 1 minute uneven struggle. I always hate it when this
particular standby shows up. It's so hard to restrain the urge to name names or at
least insinuate inuendos. Never the less, everybody, or at least all directly
connected with the gladiatorial community, were glad to see the C. Manager get it in
the neck. Or wherever.
ROBERTO LEATHAM (65-6232) (34-37-1,180) of SPLIT INFINITY fought JAMMIES (74-
2829) (67-71-1,177) of DARKLINGS. ROBERTO LEATHAM handily defeated JAMMIES in a 1
minute one-sided conflict. Yes, well, what can you expect, eh? Granted, Jammies
eschews the footed nightwear, but going to the other extreme is probably not the best
answer. A thong and a fearsome helm? Well... it's a striking fashion statement,
I'll say that for it.
DAMORETH STENN (65-6105) (45-48-0,162) of SAND DANCERS fought THE QUICKLING (70-
1669) (56-128-2,143) of SCARLET KNIGHTS. DAMORETH STENN was demolished by THE
QUICKLING in a 1 minute one-sided brawl. It isn't often that Damoreth encounters a
warrior with twice his fights (more or less, I don't know what The might have in the
way of tourney fights), and I suppose he will cite this as an explanation for his
loss. The specter of a winning record for Stenn is receding.
KING LOVE (40-3748) (32-32-2,178) of SUNNYLAND fought TORYN TYL DAGEDA (74-2777)
(66-72-4,151) of SAND DANCERS. KING LOVE devastated TORYN TYL DAGEDA in an exciting
1 minute mismatched conflict. I fear our Rirorni lady is getting increasingly upset
by her losses of late. Who knows what she might do, eh? She already has four
kills....
TAIRIKIA (51-4247) (78-83-0,154) of SAND DANCERS fought WAIS (65-6447) (26-33-
0,112) of DARK TOADS. TAIRIKIA overpowered WAIS in a 1 minute one-sided match.
Rumors to the effect that Tairikia was trying to get the jewel out of Wais's head are
just that: rumors, and totally unfounded. She was just trying to get Wais's helmet
off so her defeated opponent could, hmm, breate better? Something like that.
Anyway, taking the helmet off after a fight is a Done Thing, so it wasn't a case of
"get the jewel while she can't fight back."
CYLADIA (51-1122) (102-116-0,189) of SKAITHVARN fought THOMAS (82-14150) (15-16-
2,171) of TOADS OF KRONDUR II. CYLADIA overpowered THOMAS in an action packed 2
minute gory one-sided fight. It's the cold hands. Toads are helpless against cold
hands. Bet you didn't know that.
DARLINA (74-2995) (44-29-2,196) of SAND DANCERS fought KYRLANIA (70-2327) (71-
101-1,206) of SCARLET KNIGHTS. DARLINA was vanquished by KYRLANIA in an action
packed 1 minute uneven fight. One of the stewards reports that Darlina said, after
the fight, that "It doesn't count. She's just a sort of super-standby." Make what
excuses you want, Darlina, but you DID lose this one.
NIGHTCAP (74-2745) (73-92-0,195) of DARKLINGS fought JON SNOW (78-2389) (25-5-
2,198) of DARK TOADS. NIGHTCAP handily defeated JON SNOW in an action packed 1
minute uneven melee. Next time, Nightcap will--perhaps--remember to bring a snow
shovel.
VALLANT (38-4151) (44-23-2,195) of BLENDING ENTHRONED fought BAT (74-2742) (81-
85-1,176) of DARKLINGS. VALLANT was devastated by BAT in a crowd pleasing 2 minute
gory mismatched match. I'm not sure why the crowd was pleased by this; sometimes
it's hard to tell. But if it was the excess of gore that thrilled their tiny hearts,
this is Bad. Are we breeding a callous, bloodthirsty population? Do we WANT to
breed a callous, bloodthirsty population? Inquiring minds are worried about it.
SMOLDER DARKSUN (78-513) (82-67-3,245) of THE DRAGON FIST fought BRAND (82-
13289) (19-17-1,202) of TOADS OF AMBER III. SMOLDER DARKSUN slimly lost to BRAND in
an action packed 3 minute gory brawl. And was, perhaps, Brand-ed for his
insufficient efforts. Here's a question: If someone is smoldering, and you apply a
brand, which is necessarily (usually, anyway) very hot, does he burst into flames?
If this happened today, it was in the hall after the fight, and we didn't get to see.
Darn.
The challenge matches: TOM RIDDLE (74-3501) (34-24-2,185) of SLYTHERIN HOUSE
challenged ZALMARDARIN (78-312) (53-95-3,195) of THE DRAGON FIST. Up 10 points and
slew of fights. TOM RIDDLE was demolished by ZALMARDARIN in a 1 minute uneven
Challenge fight. Not really a surprise. We hope the skills were good.
DRACO MALFOY (74-3500) (34-15-1,210) of SLYTHERIN HOUSE challenged KHORA THE
SMALL (78-519) (124-140-3,203) of SAND DANCERS. Down 7 and up a slew of fights,
because even if Draco has tourney fights, matching Khora the Un-Inducted isn't easy.
DRACO MALFOY was subdued by KHORA THE SMALL in a 2 minute Challenge melee. Again, no
surprise, but we hope for good skills. Hey, I can hope that! I don't want to see
people get discouraged, you know.
VINCENT CRABBE (74-3498) (37-22-2,181) of SLYTHERIN HOUSE challenged DEADBOLT
(70-1664) (88-103-2,199) of SCARLET KNIGHTS. Up 18, and a slew of fights. VINCENT
CRABBE viciously subdued DEADBOLT in a 5 minute Challenge fight. Our longest match,
and a great upset victory.
For the Title (not the Horn, if you aren't going to write a column): TALON
WARSMITH (99-101) (81-90-8,280) of SCARLET KNIGHTS fought NIGHTFALL (74-2421) (103-
99-3,244) of DARKLINGS in a random match. TALON WARSMITH viciously subdued NIGHTFALL
in a popular 4 minute brutal Title fight. Yes, well, Bloodgamers ARE brutal, it's
how they stay alive. No surprise in this. Congratulations to both of them on an
exciting fight, even if the announcer didn't say it was exciting.

The Contract
[as retold by Hammer the WordSmith]
What had begun as a contract for swords and armor between a well known name in
the DM community and the former VC Captain/WordSmith and WeaponSmith of the Vendetta
Cartel Tarantula Tribe was destined to impact and altar the landscape of the dueling
community for years to come.
The following is but a condensed retelling of history in the making.
Hammer continued sipping his tankard of Elven Tonic as the mysterious hooded
figure quietly seated himself across the table from the Veteran Manager whose back
was against the wall; allowing for a subtle, but effective surveillance of the dimly
lit tavern.
Recent events in both Illis and North Fork/SCOMSS Swamp Arena had stunned the DM
managerial world with the announcement that Hammer had resigned from his position as
a well respected member of the Vendetta Cartel Alliance.
Those managers and associates closest to Hammer were shocked and dismayed that
there seemed to be NO Rational Explanation for Hammer making such a seemingly
irrational, hasty and extremely illogical decision; by what seemed to be a spur of
the moment reaction following the Declaration of War by Hammer in the DM 47 P-ads.
This is what stirred the mysterious hooded figure to seek Hammer with a request
that would change the managerial course of both men; ultimately Rocking the
Managerial World of Alastari as a result of the forthcoming decisions reached by the
two Veterans.
Time passed swiftly as both Veteran Managers discussed how the landscape of the
DM game on the sands of Alastari had changed over the years both in Basic and Tourney
play; producing a new breed of managers who would of necessity band together in an
alliance with a common goal; waging war against antagonists while improving the
managerial skills of each participating member in their glorious quest for DM
excellence.
Hammer listened intently as his unexpected guest inquired about the situation in
North Fork/SCOMSS Swamp Arena; revealing his desire to participate in the upcoming
Turf War 4 contest in DM 47 with an alliance that would accept him on a more
permanent basis other than for just fighting together as a TW4 alliance to win fame
and Gift Certs.
Here was a Veteran Manager, seeking the advice of Hammer regarding an alliance
to join on a permanent basis; plus extending a sword arm of friendship and requesting
that Hammer join him as an alliance mate with those who would welcome their
membership.
The Iron in the Words of Hammer had produced this opportunity as a result of the
recent conflicts witnessed first hand by the manager seated across the table from
Hammer. This Veteran Manager had been secretly searching and scouting around
Alastari for someone worth his mettle to fight alongside; someone who would know
where to find the perfect gang of rebels who were unafraid of waging war against
anyone.
Hammer knew exactly where to look and in a matter of days the two newcomers were
welcomed into the ranks of a group of managers who received them as war waging equals
in an alliance that had joined a Confederation of Alliances for the TW4 contest.
Fighting under the banner of The Illuminati Confederation of Alliances alongside
members of Chaos Inc, kLk and The Company of Brothers during the TW4 was more than
either of the two Veteran Managers had envisioned a few months ago.
Hammer was now entering a new journey with a new attitude.
Perhaps you readers may have noticed that new attitude by now since this
announcement by Hammer is uncharacteristically Exclamation Point Free.
Except for the famous quote by Hammer at the end of this announcement.
Now that Hammer and the Mysterious Hooded Figure have agreed to join forces with
an alliance whose members have welcomed them enthusiastically; let those who desire
to be antagonistic be forewarned as to the identities of these newly welcomed wagers
of war:
