WARRIOR SPOTLIGHT
THE ADM REGIONAL TOURNAMENT
The next ADM Regional Tournament will be held in the months of October/November 2011
and will be contested in the regular arenas during the late Summer months.
Q: What is the ADM Regional Tournament?
A: The ADM Regional Tournament is a competition where the best and brightest warriors
from the ADM regionals compete for bragging rights and to see which region is the
best!
Q: How does it work?
A: During the month of October, the warriors of each Regional Team will be temporarily
moved to a special regional arena, where they will battle it out in a single
elimination tournament. The last warrior standing wins for his region. (Learns,
skills, and FE gained during the contest will not be permanent.)
Results will be posted online during the months of October/November.
Q: How are teams determined?
A: There are 10 warrior slots given out to each team. The 10 Stylemasters of each
regional arena during Saturday, October 15th will automatically qualify and be
selected.
To qualify for a Stylemaster position, you must have been active in the arena in 4
of the prior 6 turns including the last one (2 of the last 3 for Crysalis). (Thus,
you'll want to activate your warriors before the week of July 23rd, to be safe.)
Should a team not be able to qualify all 10 warriors, they may select wildcard
entrants to fill those empty slots. However, they must have at least 7 different
styles represented AND no more than 2 of any style. Should they not be able to
meet this criteria, their team will be filled with NPCs.
Each manager may only play for 1 region and may qualify no more than 3 warriors on
a regional team. They may play a 3rd warrior only if everyone else who wants to
participate already has 2 and/or there is no other option. A manager may not have
more than 1 warrior of the same style on the regional team.
Q: What's a Regional Coordinator?
A: The Regional Coordinator is the unofficial "team captain": They are in charge of
putting together their team based on the rules, trying to make sure everyone is
included and that any disputes are handled. (For instance, if someone qualifies
more than 2 warriors, the regional coordinator will work with that manager and
determine which warriors will participate on the team, and then notify
replacements, etc.)
The Regional Coordinators are: Manager (Andorak), Buri(Darkholm), The Dark One
(Free Blades), Crip (Crysalis), Master Darque (Unnamed No Tourney Arena), One Arm
Bandit (Home Guard). If you need to contact them, you can write a personal ad in
the ADM arena, or send a diplo to them at:
Manager: Superior Forces in DM 105
The Dark One: Angels of Pain in DM 103
Buri: Tackle Box in DM 104
One Arm Bandit: Sea Dogs in DM 101
Crip: Royal Flush in DM 106
Master Darque: Darque Ages in DM 81
Q: What does happen if someone qualifies more than 2 warriors?
A: That manager will be able to decide which 2 to send (or, if there are no other
options, the manager may send 3--see above) and the next highest qualifying warrior
will be able to take place of the warrior that doesn't get sent if it's an
automatic spot. It's definitely a good idea to communicate with your team
coordinator and fellow teammates. Remember, even though you are fighting for
qualification spots, you all still want to put together a competitive team! (All
of the captains treat this as an inclusive event so it's unlikely anyone will
completely get left out in the cold.)
Q: What if my warriors are not in ADM regional? Or, what if they are in the wrong
ADM regional?
A: If your warriors are in 100, or are in the wrong region, and they haven't fought
since the split, you can request to CSR to have them moved into the proper
regional arena.
Q: Is there a prize?
A: Bragging rights!
REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
Here we are, perched on a rock on the edge of the Storm Sea (it's a lake,
actually, but these Alastarians call any large body of water a sea--you know how
people get). A slippery rock, worn smooth by the storms, all that sort of thing. A
HOT rock, because we're in the midst of a hot summer.
Hot or not, we have fights. Seventeen of them, with only two standbys, which
puts us right up there with the long-established regionals. This is a good
beginning. I expect to see the population here GROW.
Top team(s) today are Darque Ages, Darque Forces, and Improved Illusion, managed
by Master Darque, being undefeated. Assurnasirbanipal is hot on his heels--I said
everything was hot, didn't I? With The Mun, Elephant, Visionist, Nomad, Hombre, One
Armed Bandit, and Tripwire in pursuit. This is a good line-up of managers for our
first turn. Zontani reports a rumor that Master Darque's gladiators used some kind
of magic to attain their Top Team positon, but... nah. Zontani's sources are
questionable; they'd say anything if they thought there was money in it.
No challenges and no avoids, of course--THIS time. I expect to see plenty of
that in two weeks!
Without further ado, here ARE the fights:
COLLINGWOOD (39-3798) (23-16-2,82) of KIWI CONNECTION fought GAD (18-9239) (24-
16-1,79) of SHEPHERDS. COLLINGWOOD devastated GAD in a 1 minute mismatched brawl.
Well, naturally. Shepherds wear wool, right? Who'd fight there best in this weather
dressed in wool?
THE BRIDE (45-4180) (22-9-1,68) of DARQUE FORCES fought CAJETAN (7-6036) (16-10-
1,59) of SENTINELS. THE BRIDE viciously subdued CAJETAN in a 2 minute brutal fray.
Good gods, WHOSE bride? Frankenstein? I wouldn't want to kiss that one.
EXTORTION (73-5787) (17-5-2,58) of BLACKMAIL fought LAZY LOOKOUT (42-4504) (26-
23-1,44) of DUNGEON CELL. EXTORTION overpowered LAZY LOOKOUT in a crowd pleasing 1
minute one-sided duel. This is trouble with lazinness, you know. You say to
yourself, I'll just be lazy in that one thing--and you end up being lazy all over the
place. Lazy in the arena is a mistake.
'76 GRAN TORINO (81-234) (17-8-1,46) of AMERICAN MUSCLE fought LULU (45-4135)
(18-10-1,65) of DARQUE FORCES. '76 GRAN TORINO was overpowered by LULU in a 1 minute
mismatched conflict. Vapor lock?
'69 MUSTANG BOSS (81-236) (19-18-1,76) of AMERICAN MUSCLE fought EVANGELION (59-
2340) (17-15-1,67) of IMPROVED ILLUSION. '69 MUSTANG BOSS was subdued by EVANGELION
in a crowd pleasing 5 minute match. Evangelion is an illusion? But... it looked so
REAL.
'08 CHALLENGER (81-920) (15-8-2,87) of AMERICAN MUSCLE fought SQUEEZE (73-5788)
(20-5-0,65) of BLACKMAIL. '08 CHALLENGER demolished SQUEEZE in a crowd pleasing 1
minute mismatched competition. A squeeze meets a run-down-and-flatten, and guess who
wins, eh?
'69 FAIRLANE COBRA (81-1007) (16-5-2,55) of AMERICAN MUSCLE fought MOTHER-IN-LAW
(5-4050) (16-8-1,57) of BLOOD SUCKERS. '69 FAIRLANE COBRA was handily defeated by
MOTHER-IN-LAW in a 1 minute one-sided bout. Better one bite from a mother-in-law
than being nibbled to death by fleas. A word of warning, stay out of the woods.
They're full of fleas. And probably ticks, too.
AZAGHAL (81-1223) (18-17-0,62) of DRAGONBANE GUILD fought RINDEL (29-5346) (24-
17-0,89) of MID EARTH. AZAGHAL lost to RINDEL in a popular 3 minute brutal fight.
Azaghal is a good name, sounds Rirorni, but Rindel was the one with the determination
today. Not that Azaghal was easy, mind!
FAN ZHEN (81-1288) (15-8-1,54) of DARQUE AGES fought WAIMATE (14-3172) (18-11-
1,61) of OTAGO HIGHLANDERS. FAN ZHEN won victory over WAIMATE in an action packed 1
minute fight. Today, Master Darque's crew can do no wrong, although they're skirting
"wrong" when they mock the bookies. I know, I know, the bookies are really annoying.
But it was probably not the best idea to heave two of them into the lake.
ZEVRAN (81-1258) (19-22-1,65) of OF WOLF AND MAN fought BOWTIE BOB (81-930) (20-
10-2,72) of FUCHI OWNED. ZEVRAN lost to BOWTIE BOB in an action packed 1 minute
duel. Now, if Zevran comes out with a cravat next time, we may see a different
result.
LHISSON (29-5456) (25-18-0,93) of MID EARTH fought VIRGINIA, NO SANTA (65-6623)
(20-9-0,56) of GOT IT FOR CHRISTMAS. LHISSON was handily defeated by VIRGINIA, NO
SANTA in a 1 minute uneven fight. This was the big Point Movement fight, with
Virginia going up thirty-three and Lhisson down twenty-five. Brings 'em closer
together, so they can fight again.
TING-TING (81-776) (26-12-0,100) of FUCHI OWNED fought BELEG (29-3439) (17-9-
2,62) of MID EARTH. TING-TING bested BELEG in a crowd pleasing 1 minute match. No
surprise. That's one of the things I like about this arena--if it says that Beleg
has twenty-six fights, you KNOW that's all he's got. At least, so far. Is there a
final decision on whether you guys can participate in tourneys and remain here?
Nobody tells me things unless I ask, so I'm going to keep asking until someone tells
me.
OBROJOBO (7-5869) (17-16-1,95) of SENTINELS fought BILLY IDOL (43-42) (27-20-
1,72) of FEFF-M 106. OBROJOBO was devastated by BILLY IDOL in a popular 1 minute
uneven brawl. This Billy Idol is OLD, but no fossil, he's clearly kept up with his
practice.
PLANKTON (18-9748) (24-21-2,122) of SEA DOGS fought '68 ROAD RUNNER (81-747)
(28-12-0,96) of AMERICAN MUSCLE. PLANKTON was bested by '68 ROAD RUNNER in a popular
5 minute brutal fight. And if you want a strange image, picture a bunch of
microscopic water things scrambling to hold some kind of shape while a big old
horseless carriage runs over them repeatedly.
D'URVILLE (39-3800) (24-13-1,122) of KIWI CONNECTION fought IMPRISONED SPY (107-
9) (0-0-0,170) of Newly Recruited Standbys. D'URVILLE was savagely defeated by
IMPRISONED SPY in an action packed 2 minute fight. We need to get these guys new
names, they're using the Commission's Standard Nomenclature, and I feel sure we can
do better. Ideas, anyone?
SHINY PENNY (32-3789) (53-106-2,175) of FOUND IN THE SAND fought SPIREWOLF (81-
768) (24-24-2,121) of DRAGONBANE GUILD. SHINY PENNY won victory over SPIREWOLF in an
action packed 1 minute battle. Whoa! BIG experience difference here.
For the title, the other standby fights:
ANVIL IRONFIST (81-84) (40-16-0,205) of DRAGONBANE GUILD fought GOJIRO (107-31)
(0-0-0,220) of Newly Recruited Standbys. ANVIL IRONFIST devastated GOJIRO in a 1
minute mismatched Title fight. A good piece of work, Anvil, and we'll hope to see a
column from you next time. At least a few lines, okay?

PERSONAL CORRESPONDENCE
A hearty welcome to all! This is certainly a hallmark event, the opening of a new
ADM arena. Will this be a training ground for ADM/Eligible bustouts? Will it be a
place filled with near perfect warriors training for Primus? Will it be a small
alternative choice arena for warriors who don't have hidden FE? Only time will tell?
-- Assur
For those who don't know me, I will be initially running Shiny Penny, Virginia No
Santa, and Gad. -- Assurnasirbanipal
And we're glad to see you here, I'm sure.
I almost slipped in the all-arena ad currently running, until it occurred to me
that to run a notice of the opening of this arena IN the opening newsletter of
this arena would be... redundant. While I have nothing against redundance
generally, it's too hot for that today. -- Larkin

warriors, bruised and scarred, MAY yet live, only one will be crowned Champion of the
Bloodgames. And in this game mere survival counts for little. A great general once
said, "The object of battle is not to die for your cause, but to make your enemy die
for his." This general would have greatly enjoyed the Duelmasters Bloodgames. There
will be two different arenas:
DM 98: for Face-to-Face attendees, with turn-by-turn strategies, and
DM 99: for all managers, with one strategy for all ten rounds
Gameplay proceeds according to standard DM rules, except for a few notable exceptions:
BLOODGAMES ROLLUP -- Your Bloodgames team is ten warriors, one of each fighting
style, each warrior designed from scratch! (All is 84 points, 3-21, as usual.)
DEATH -- As the name implies, the Bloodgames will leave the arena sands somewhat darker
before they're over. It's a dangerous sport intended only for the tough and spirited.
The Arenamaster will be less likely to intercede on behalf of a dying warrior. Even
at a 1 kill desire, kill attempts will occur.
REPLACEMENTS AND ROLLUPS -- There will be no replacement characters.
CHALLENGES AND STRATEGIES -- In DM 98, there no regular challenges, only bloodfeuds.
For DM 99, warriors may not change their strategy from round to round (to make it fair
for those who could not attend the F-t-F). There will be no DA challenges.
TURN PROCESSING AND DUE DATES -- If you are not attending the FTF, we must have your
rollups and strategies by Wednesday, July 7, else they are due by 9pm on Friday, at
the hotel. The Bloodgames will process at the FTF with the regular tournament.
MISSED TURNS -- All warriors fight each round. Only the dead may rest.
ERRORS -- If we make an input error, that warrior will be awarded a win and kill.
Errors must be reported before the next turn processes.
NEWSLETTER -- Warriors are ranked according to their number of kills. Champions of
Bloodgames may write a column for the newsletter at the end of the games.
FEES -- A Bloodgames rollup costs a $10 set-up fee. Managers may roll up more than
one team but may run only one team in each arena. The fee for all ten rounds is $49.
AWARDS -- The Bloodgames last ten rounds. Only warriors who survive to the end of
Turn 10 will be eligible for an award. However, a consolation award of a Bloodgames
T-shirt will be awarded to the dead warrior with the most kills.
The living warrior with the greatest number of kills will be the Bloodgames Champion.
Bloodgames Victor titles, 2nd and 3rd place, and Bloodgames Runner-up titles, 4th
through 6th place, will be awarded to those living warriors with the greatest number
of kills at the end of Turn 10, with one other important consideration: Each of these
six warriors must be of a different fighting style. Win/loss records and, if
necessary, recognition points will only be used to determine awards if there is a tie.
A Bloodgames T-shirts will be awarded to the manager of the team with the most kills.
The Bloodgames Champion fights for free in Advanced Duelmasters, and all Champions and
Victors earn Tournament Victor status, which allows them to challenge once per turn
with increased priority. These awards last for six months. The manager of the
Bloodgames Champion, Victors, and Runners-up will receive Bloodgames T-shirts.
AFTERMATH -- Warriors from the Bloodgames may not transfer to any other arena. Once
the games are over, the arena and teams will be disbanded. The fighters have won
their freedom and will never more be seen in the gladiatorial games. A special bonus
will, however, be awarded to the 1st through 3rd place warriors. Lady Sheila
Greywand, of the Isle of the Eye, has consented to allow the top three surviving
gladiators in each Bloodgames admission to the Advanced Duelmasters Games. Any
special training required to qualify those three warriors for Advanced Duelmasters
combat will be conducted before transfer into A.D. Astute managers will note that
this means a slim, but possible chance that a warrior designed from scratch will
survive the Bloodgames, win one of the top three places, and go on to glory in A.D.
That warrior could be yours!
The challenge is yours to take. The final plans are yours to make.
When the dust settles, remember: To the victor goes the spoils!
