Reflections by the Champion of the Horn
Fine, Larkin. I'll admit the lackluster performance of my adversaries has been
discouragingly uninspiring, but I'll take this opportunity to point out how my fight
against Evangelion transpired. Let me think for a moment...
I arrived at the arena with my favorite longsword and an extra shortspear.
Y'know, I can't be too cautious, especially considering my ridiculous power could
cause the sword to entirely impale Eve and break against the wall behind him. It's
not easy being so strong, but I make do.
In case you didn't check around, Eve's a parry-ripper. Kinda short. Also kinda
short on the parry, unless she was protecting some of her interior organs with her
throat and right arm. Sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself. She looked like some kind
of reptile with a couple knitting needles and a shield. Again, I'd've thought the
shield might have done a better job parrying, but to each their own.
She saluted me, I returned the courtesy, and jumped to my right. In my younger
days, I might have hokey-pokeyed back, but I grow weary of wasted time and
opportunities. Rather, I leaped into one of my trademark incredible flesh-splitters
and nailed her neck. She complimented me, and while I respect her eye for
recognizing greatness, she might have been better served by lifting her shield.
Another flesh-splitter devastated her right arm, and she quit.
Somewhere in those short twenty seconds, she learned five skills from me. I'm
such a giver. Meanwhile, my workout wasn't enough to break out a sweat. Oh well.

Glad you do.
Today we have: sixteen fights, four with standbys, six with challenges. No
overlap in that. Center for Olds was most avoided, with Nomadic Tribe avoiding them
most. Naturally! Delaware Run got the most challenges.
The fights:
THE HYPHEN-DASH (42-4499) (26-15-1,87) of COLOR ME SUAVE fought UNEMPLOYED
PERSON (107-5) (0-0-0,70) of Fine Imported Standbys. THE HYPHEN-DASH overpowered
UNEMPLOYED PERSON in a 1 minute mismatched brawl. No great mystery in this one.
1977 AMC MATADOR (42-4116) (45-35-0,45) of COLOR ME SUAVE fought ALASTARIAN
DESERTER (107-1) (0-0-0,30) of Fine Imported Standbys. 1977 AMC MATADOR was savagely
defeated by ALASTARIAN DESERTER in a 4 minute struggle. Oops! That's got to be
embarrassing for the Matador. Four minutes, and a loss? But this kind of stuff
happens, an off day for a warrior, a standby who just had a fight with his wife, and
whammo!
LHISSON (29-5456) (31-33-0,70) of MID EARTH fought JELLO KNUCKLES (42-4554) (32-
20-0,43) of COLOR ME SUAVE. LHISSON handily defeated JELLO KNUCKLES in a 1 minute
uneven fight. I wouldn't have considered this a surprise, so I don't know why Jello
got the raspberries for Least Popular today. Not that there's anything wrong with
raspberries, they are excellent with cream. Or, I suppose, raspberry jello.
PINCH BLISTER (18-9859) (34-30-0,140) of CENTER FOR OLDS fought RAGGEDY ANN (45-
4148) (37-18-0,136) of DARQUE FORCES. PINCH BLISTER was luckily beaten by RAGGEDY
ANN in a popular 4 minute bloody brawl. If it takes four minutes and is decided by a
lucky stroke at the end, that suggests that these two are well matched. Make a note
of that, eh?
AZAGHAL (81-1223) (25-24-0,140) of DRAGONBANE GUILD fought BEDDER (18-10043)
(24-12-2,100) of CENTER FOR OLDS. AZAGHAL unbelievably bested BEDDER in an exciting
2 minute contest. Why, exactly, was this hard to believe? By the visible evidence
here, and we know there are no hidden tourney fights, Azaghal had the edge. Well,
probably still has it, but that's a problem for next time.
RINDEL (29-5346) (35-27-0,174) of MID EARTH fought VIRGINIA, NO SANTA (65-6623)
(26-25-1,121) of GOT IT FOR CHRISTMAS. RINDEL demolished VIRGINIA, NO SANTA in a 2
minute mismatched match. More than once I've wondered how the handicapper picks the
matches. You'd think, well, I would think, that something better balanced could have
been found. Not that *I* want to do it, talk about a thankless job!
HEINRIK (81-1257) (33-31-1,178) of CLAN LONGBEARD fought THE BLACKSMITH (107-22)
(0-0-0,181) of Fine Imported Standbys. HEINRIK savagely defeated THE BLACKSMITH in a
popular 2 minute gory melee. Not a bad piece of work on Heinrik's part, and the fans
voted him Most Popular today on the strength of it.
OBROJOBO (7-5869) (25-22-1,195) of SENTINELS fought GAD (18-9239) (34-28-1,168)
of SHEPHERDS. OBROJOBO lost to GAD in a popular 1 minute fight. This was the fight
with the biggest point movements today, Gad up 22, Obrojobo down 16. Gad is our top
parry-lunger. And just in passing, I note that there is still no parry-striker
listed here. Is there one headed our way, or do we need to go out and scour the
arenas for a candidate?
FROO-FROO (18-9589) (50-33-4,237) of CENTER FOR OLDS fought GOJIRO (107-31) (0-
0-0,220) of Fine Imported Standbys. FROO-FROO vanquished GOJIRO in an action packed
1 minute one-sided duel. Clearly, this is no day to be a standby. Losing right and
left. Froo-Froo is our top slasher.
The challenges:
JOSH (18-9109) (23-18-0,150) of SHEPHERDS challenged ALMOST PRETTY (42-4496)
(45-33-0,140) of COLOR ME SUAVE. Down 10. JOSH was bested by ALMOST PRETTY in a 1
minute Challenge competition. That extra experience, I suppose. Plus that Almost is
Ms. Slice-and-Dice, aka the top wall of steel.
LORD EXETER (81-932) (32-19-1,165) of DRAGONBANE GUILD challenged GRATH (81-581)
(36-21-1,175) of OF WOLF AND MAN. Up 10. LORD EXETER viciously subdued GRATH in a
crowd pleasing 3 minute Challenge fight. Only three minutes, when Grath is our Mr.
Impervious or top total parry?
FAN ZHEN (81-1288) (25-15-2,158) of DARQUE AGES challenged WALLI WEEBLE (21-
6935) (32-22-0,134) of NOMADIC TRIBE. Down 24. FAN ZHEN overpowered WALLI WEEBLE in
a 2 minute one-sided Challenge fight. The fans were shouting that Walli should
change his name to Wobble, but this is unfair. Anyone can have an off day.
EVANGELION (59-2340) (27-22-1,198) of IMPROVED ILLUSION challenged MOIST
TOWELETTE (42-4430) (59-42-4,237) of COLOR ME SUAVE. Up 39. EVANGELION was
demolished by MOIST TOWELETTE in a 1 minute uneven Challenge fight. Who would've
thought that Evangelion's face could be just... wiped off? Moist was the top
striker, and Evangelion the rippingest parry-riposte.
SHINY PENNY (32-3789) (64-117-2,208) of FOUND IN THE SAND challenged DELAWARE
RUN (42-4400) (87-56-5,236) of COLOR ME SUAVE. Up 28. I think. My mind blurred for
a moment there. SHINY PENNY lost to DELAWARE RUN in an action packed 1 minute
Challenge battle. Delaware is the top basher, but Shiny is the overall popularity
leader. There's more than one kind of fame.
THE BRIDE (45-4180) (32-16-1,186) of DARQUE FORCES challenged ZEVRAN (81-1258)
(30-32-1,190) of OF WOLF AND MAN. Up 4. THE BRIDE devastated ZEVRAN in a 1 minute
mismatched Challenge fight. And this despite the fact that Zevran is Mr. Accuracy,
the supreme aimed blow here today. Unless, of course, the Commission clerks have
screwed something up in the style-masters list.

FOUR OF SPADES (42-4234) (74-43-3,220) of COLOR ME SUAVE fought DOMINATRIX (81-
583) (31-23-3,192) of OF WOLF AND MAN. FOUR OF SPADES was overpowered by DOMINATRIX
in a 1 minute uneven Title melee. Congratulations to Dominatrix, our top lunger.
