To the Bold:
I must thank Teetotaler for his taking up the mantle of public relations for the
Companions. I've been struggling with the G.C. reprtesentatives to have my proper
record restored. This battle has proven even more difficult than my recent feats
versus the Chaos Spawn, but only barely. This T'Zeexiqual was a horrible demon out of
hell. It took me almost 8 minutes to put it to death.
Still, the apathy of the masses to the threat these creatures pose our homeworld
is amazing to me. Only the Companions and the occasional outsider (congrats, Reggie,
your help was appreciated!) dare to reduce the numbers of the enemy.
Why is this? Do the many heroic warriors here prefer to wallow in their
discontent that the Gate was not what they expected? The goals remain: destroy the
Chaos Horde or fall before them. It is that simple!
I charge you! On turn 22, join with the Companions to assault the foe! Let us
bring the battle to them. Show the Chaos Minions that we do not plan to fall down and
die before the apathy, the malaise which has fallen like a plague upon us!

RAMBLINGS FROM WITHIN THE KEEP
Huzzahh Campers, you guessed it, it is I, Zontani Sharp Eyes, Spymaster
extrordinaire and all around knowledgable fellow. This week I would like to talk to
you about a sensitve but very important topic... body odor. We all have it, its a
part of life in the gladitorial games, it's nature's way, BUT GEEEEZ WE COULD DO WITH
A LITTLE LESS OF IT AROUND HERE!!! Can you say shower? Thank you, I knew you could.
At first I thought it was just me, like maybe I had stepped in a lizard pattie or
something you know? But bit by bit it has begun to dawn on me that most of you
primates haven't seen the inside of a shower or bathtub since we came through the
gate. So for those of you who didn't learn them from your mama, let's review a few
basic rules of personal hygiene shall we?
First, When your fight is over, go get a bucket and some rags and wash the blood
off. Whether it's yours or theirs doesn't make any difference. And no, getting
killed or sent to the imfirmary does not constitute a valid excuse for avoiding your
post fight wash.
Second, follow the ten foot rule. If the people around you always seek to
maintain a ten foot distance then you know that its been too long since your last
shower or bath. Go take one. Do not pass go. Do not collect 200 gold pieces.
Third and last, "never get high on another's supply". Quite simply that means
don't get so used to being foul smelling that you actually start to enjoy hanging out
with other sweaty gladiators at the training hall. Learn to enjoy being clean, and if
you have to smell something vile, come by my house when I'm brewing swamp ale. If
that doesn't fix you then nothing will.
All right, hopefully that settles that and I won't have to
raise the topic again (at least for a while). In terms of events
at the games this week, the biggest news is that Tagan in still
on top, this time carrying out a sentance on Executioner to
retain the Gate Commander's title. Towords the end of the fight
I heard the crowd start chanting "Delbaeth, Delbaeth, Delbaeth"
so I guess they want to see him get a crack at Tagan's sensitive
bits before too much longer. Strangley there was also one guy in the
stands that I overheard chanting "Ferndok, Ferndok, Ferndok".
Buy you know how that goes -- there is always somebody willing to
root for the Underdogs.
In other exciting matchups this week Vengeance got waxed by Quetziquatl in the
Gate, while back at the castle arena Delbaeth took out Reggie Jackson.
Take a shower, guys.

Retiring Warriors
Greetings, Joy and Happiness everywhere. I hope that all who play Duelmasters
enjoy it to a great extent. Duelmaster can be enjoyable for many years, if you know
how to utilize it for maxium enjoyment. I have decided to write an article that deals
with when its time to retire a warrior.
After generating a warrior and playing him for time, you begin to get attached to
him/her. If the warrior is winning you get a sort of fascination about him/her, and
it makes you more willing to hang on to him regardless of his long term effectiveness.
If he begins to lose consistantly, it becomes less entertaining to you. This is why
you need to know when to `give it up' and let him retire.
When I create a warrior I decide right then and there, if he will be a long term
or short term warrior. If he is a short term warrior, I determine ruffly how long he
has until I retire him. For example: Gronk the Basher, has 17-5-16-17-11-9-9, and
great damage. Well, he was designed to play in Basic for awhile and for one tourney
in the Novices. He played 3 regular arena fights and was sent to the novices tourney
and got a TV (8-2-0). I then retired him, realizing he had no long term potential.
He had served his purpose, and I got maxium entertainment value out of him. Scummy
TPs also are great short term warriors.
Long term potential warriors have to meet certain requirements in order for me to
keep them for the long haul. The first requirment is that the warrior have a minimum
of 45 points bewteen WIT, WILL, and DEFTNESS. I like to have a least a 15 WILL also.
The second thing I look at is their skill bases, or starting skills. For long term, I
like around a minimum of around 60 starting skills, with ATTACK no less than 12,
defense no less 12. And for parry styles no less than 9 starting parry skills, and 7
attack skills. The higher the attack base skills for the defensive styles the longer
I will keep them. Anything that doesn't fall within those guidelines is considered a
short term warrior. Short term meaning he/she will never go to Primus.
Well, I hope this can give any newer mgrs an idea about how effective the
warriors will be in the long run. If you just absolutely stuck on playing a warrior
you like a lot but he is a loser, you can always send him to HOME GUARD to fight with
the other Losers... <grin>. Home Guard can be a fun arena, but it is a different kind
of fun, more a role playing thing.
