Greetingssss, noble warriors of Gateway! It isss with excitement that I come
before you once again (as Zontani is well into his cupssss and unable to perform his
solemn dutiesss once again! I sssshould not sssay such thingssss about him, of
coursssse, but I know you won't ssspread tales!). Why excitement, you asssk?
Because, naturally, it is coming up on the time when the Lady openssss the Gate, and
we are allowed to visssit Alastari for the Grand Tournament, as well as visit family
and friends. And thisss time out, new warriorsss will be joining us--I hope that we
will see an influx of new facesss!
Know, then, my dear friendssss, that there are 222 warriors regissstered as
living here in the Keep--with only 39 fights, that means lessss than 100 of you are
actually fighting on the sands and within the Gate! Of course, it is possible that
sssome of the Lord Protectorssss who came here originally moved back home, to
retirement and positions on Her Ladyship's Staff--it IS possible to return to
Alassstari, but due to the changesss that have been made to your bodiesss to withstand
the terrible magicks of Chaosss, you may never fight on Alastari sands again. But you
could live there quite comfortably if you moved back. Her Ladyship's Staff is a fine
position (and it's rumored that the food isss excellent).
But onward. For those of you active, it seems nearly all of you have at least
one rating of Grandmaster, and many many of you are above, so I shall not list the
Grandmasters only; I will, however, list for you those who are at Archmaster and above
(active only).

On to thisss cycle's fights. Five warriorssss braved the Gate's cruel fangsss,
and three came home victorioussss: Teetotaler, Vengeance, and Jesse Jackson. Ferndok
and Unzaster Dizaster were carried home on their ssshields. Falstaff prevented
Donatello from taking the Commander's throne in an exciting bout. In some of our
challengessss, Psycho Scientist took on and defeated Hangover, Care tried his hand at
the leading aimed blow artist, the lovely Tawny, and took her down in one minute.
Reggie Jackson tried his hand at fighting Whiplassssh, but was handily defeated in
bloody combat. Donatello was this cycle'sss most challenged warrior. And from the
Death Massssters did the Roman Heroesss hide, even when it was time for dinner.

Zontani Sharp-Eyes -- How about scrapping the present ranking system in favor of a
recognition point system? Any chance of making that a reality? Since there are so
few warriors here, I believe the recognition point system would be better suited for
the small "Basic DM" feel of this arena. Does anyone else have anything to add to

The CEO of Phoenix Enterprises, Miles, recently had an unfortunate encounter with the
Macaroni of Evil in Aradi and was tranformed into a demon. We, the Board of Phoenix
Enterprises, do not find the demon Beelzemiles to be an acceptable representative of
our interests, and are invoking the Morality Clause of his contract and terminating
his employment. Seizing this as an opportunity to reorganize our operations, we have
appointed Xenia tyl Loran as the Executive Officer of Lirith Kai operations and The

The CONFEDERATION of INDEPENDENT MANAGERS ASSOCIATION is looking for independent
managers wanting to improve their game and enjoy fellowship with other managers in the
game. CIMA is the largest organization ever to be formed in the world of Duelmasters.
This isn't an alliance, but rather a club where you get the benefits of an alliance
but retain your independent managers status. If you're an independent manager that
hasn't registered with CIMA, you're missing out on a whole lot of fun and information
about the game.
There are no rules, titles, political or ethical problems at CIMA to encumber the
independent minds of our members.
CIMA members receive a monthly newsletter with CIMA and DM information in it. New
members will receive a new member kit that will have information about CIMA, as well
as help hints; charts of weapons, skills, endurance; and other stuff to help you get
started in your arena as a newer player. We will also have an in-depth CIMA handbook
that explain in detail much of how the game works.
We offer an extensive training program with 7 DM CIMA training centers for RSI
members, and 3 CIMA Training centers for RSE (our EuroDM branch) members. If you're
an experienced manager you can volunteer to been a CIMA trainer if you wish, or for
newer players, a trainer will be assigned to you if you choose.
CIMA has a web page and an on-line email list which CIMA members can get involved in

The Gladiatorial Commission is sponsoring a Name Change Month this March. As you
know, we do not normally allow established teams or warriors to change their names.
For the month of March 1997 we are lifting this restriction. If you wish to change
the name of a warrior or team, please send a note to RSI Customer Service with your
account number, the name and ID of the warrior or team, and the new name. ALL NAME
CHANGE REQUESTS MUST BE RECEIVED BY MARCH 25, 1997 as we wish to get this done well
before the next tournament.
The Commission
FACE-TO-FACE XIX
Our next Face-to-Face will be held on 25-27 July 1997, Friday through Sunday, at
the Hastings Hotel and Convention Center in Hartford, Connecticut (85 Sigourney
Street). Room rates are $79.00 per night, single and double occupancy. The rooms are
blocked, so you can call to reserve your room (tell them you're with the Reality
Simulations convention). Their phone number is 860-727-4224. Our room block will be
released on 10 July, so reserve your room now.
There is free parking, but unfortunately there is no free airport shuttle. There
is a free shuttle to downtown Hartford. Look for transportation info in the
tournament information sheet.
This hotel has everything! (Apparently, Clinton stayed there a couple of months
back.) They have a full fitness center, full court gym, pocket billiards, and table
tennis. We have reserved the gym for volleyball from 10-2 on Friday and 1-4 on
Saturday. Also, there is golf at the River Highlands (according to the brochure, "one
of the most challenging layouts on the PGA Tour"). With everything else to do, be
sure to save some time to play Duelmasters! <grin>
The tournament information sheet/strategy sheet should be out sometime in late
May/early June.
If you haven't been to a Face-to-Face before, you're overdue. If you have,
