DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Well, there's nothing guaranteed to bring arena-wide mockery and derision quite like
getting killed on your own challenge, is there Skunner? I guess I can't blame him for
making the challenge; he very well could have ended up on the throne, had he won. But,
the fates had other plans for him, like rotting in the ground for eternity (or, at
least until the next dead tourney).
Perhaps this column will begin a new tradition here in Jhans; that of the Duelmaster
actually writing a column for the folks. I mean, being Duelmaster of an arena is a
rare and wonderful event, an honor afforded to few. It should be the responsibility of
the Duelmaster to repay that honor with a few words of wisdom for the common folk,
especially in a relatively big and active arena such as this one.
So, c'mon, fellow warriors! Who is in on this new commitment, to write when you are on
the throne? Hear, hear!!

SPY REPORT
Welcome JHANS. I, Olaf Modeen remember this place well. Many the fights have I
fought here. The celebrations, the disappointments... What's with SLETTU? She
actually beat BAD PICKLES' JAY HIGGINS, and walked away with 20 more points from the
fight. Major screwup at NEON KNIGHTS. DREAMSINGER lost 17 points to ASSAIL. Some
new strategies, perhaps? Maybe DREAMSINGER will provide more easy wins... Another
fighter (LEMAN 15-13-0) challenged another Duelmaster (WILDRIDER 13-13-2). Life goes
on. I'm sure JHANS is excited about LEMAN, the new Duelmaster from DARK ABUNDANCE.
(remember?) But when you've seen as many as I have... I suppose you want to hear
some rumors and dirty gossip about your fellow fighters? Tough!
If at first you don't succeed, avoid. That'll get you in the Spyreports. JHANS
thinks DARK ABUNDANCE and their 145-158-0 is too much! If at first you don't
succeed, give up... In my day, no team with a 144-155-0 would scare me off! What's
the problem, BAD PICKLES? How well I know the feeling of being the most challenged
warrior, MIKE VADNER! Don't make idle boasts, they may come back to haunt you. I
hate going to the effort of writing about the kind of fights that DAHLIA gets in.
She fights people like ALOSIA, 8 points below. I thought DAHLIA showed great skill
and promise when she defeated ALOSIA. All right, so I slept through it! Big deal!
A fighter's lot is filled with strife, revenge, and killing. Some fighters
don't accept this. The best do. Who will dare fight ALI BABA, after he returned
from the Dark Arena? (For the record 20-17-2 is 98, and has he points) We all knew
it had to happen sooner or later. A warrior can't stick around with a 8-7-2, and
SLETTU easily took care of JAY HIGGINS. Someone told WILDRIDER that DARK ABUNDANCE
never Bloodfeuded, that he'd have an easy kill. Well, I'm sure whoever misled you is
right sorry. BONEGRIN was plum wore out after PAPA LENNY pounded 'im silly in a
Bloodfeud. WOLF AND MAN'll have to get a little better before going after PAPA LENNY
again! Is it my imagination, or are fighters getting younger every day? To die so
young, so gloriously!
Many other cities have retirement homes for aged warriors. Any plans here? Are
you as tired of reading this as I am of writing it? Actually, I guess I'm writing it
before you read it. Oh, well. Remember--a good fighter needs both good skills and
