Oh no, not that. It was a freakin crazy outstanding fight between 2 of the most elite strikers in the game today.

Some of the roudns were VERY close but I thought Rua did enough. The problem is we have boxing judges still that don't realize what octagon control and anything about leg kicks etc.

I wonder what the odds are of Silva coming back up to 205? That would be the 2 fighters with the highest percentage of strikes in MMA history matching up. Each would definately stand to make deep into 6 figures for that fight.

Probably wouldn't be wise for Machida to go after Lesnar. And to a past statement made by somebody that Lesnar's punches are not effective I've watched all his fights again on Spike... That guy is a DAMN hard puncher... Just ask Frank Mir's face. He's knocked down Mir, Couture, and Herring with single punches.

Silva will never fight Machida.

They are really good freinds and have told everyone they won't do it.

A recent article says:

Perhaps we could see Silva vs Shogun? Winner takes on whoever Evans ends up facing and that winner faces Machida, perhaps by force of contract?!?!

Oh and what are thoughts on Herschel Walker signing with Strikeforce? He's a 5th or 6th degree Tae Kwon Do blackbelt. I know not the best style for MMA but he claims he could take out anybody on TUF 10. He was one hell of an athlete, Football and US Bobsledder due to his incredible leg strength... ever see those tree trunks? Probably too late at 47 but damn I'd have loved to have seen him had he started 5-7 years earlier. Still as devoid as the HW division is in UFC it's definately no better anywhere else save Fedor, Rogers, and few others at this point.

I think the top of the HW divison in the UFC is stacked right now.

Brock Lesnar
Frank Mir
Antonio Nogueira (Big Nog)
Shane Carwin
Cain Velazquez
Junior Dos Santos

Those guys are all badass with Shane, Cane and Junior all future champs.

And to answer the question about Walker he would get crushed. No ground game and his age and stamina wouldn't allow him to last vs a lot of these grapplers. They just want paydays.

Unlikely anyone would put him against a top HW. Just like <gasp> Boxing the HW division falls off greatly after the top 6-10. He'll probably get "Johnnie Mortoned" in his fight if it ever happens.

Well looks like MMA gets another shot on network TV on the 7th. We'll see if Rogers can land one of those, even he'll probably need more than one on that Russian skull, big soup bones on Fedor. The following is the expected card, only one name I'm not familiar with is Jason Miller.

-Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers
-Jake Shields vs. Jason "Mayhem" Miller (Middleweight Title Fight)
-Gegard Mousasi vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou
-Fabricio Werdum vs. Antonio Silva

I had Shogun winning by the same score as Tripwire. From what I read 2 of the 3 judges scored the first 3 rounds for Machida. Whats up with that?

As for the UFC HW division I dotn think its stacked but there are some interesting fights for sure.

Cain Velazquez has great wrestling but his standup isnt that great and he doesnt seem to be able to punch his way out of a paper bag.

Junior Dos Santos has good standup but we have yet to see his ground game yet and there are lots of wrestlers at the upper end of the division.

Shane Carwin is a big puncher whos got good wrestling. He might be Brocks biggest challenge if he can stay on his feet long enough to connect with Brocks chin.

Big Nog is a freak of nature so I always give him a chance at winning against anyone. Good hand great ground and a head made from stone. Even if its a cracked stone these days.

Frank Mir isnt at the top any more. He really doesnt have the standup and even though he is great on the ground he can easily be overwelmed there as well. So when you greatest strength can be your greatest weakness you are in trouble.

Fudge - just saw that Brock had to withdraw from the upcoming Nov 21st fight - been ill for 3 weeks and unable to train - really looking forward to that card - don't know if I'll get it if Ortiz/Griffin is the main event....

At least TUF Finale 10 will have Matt Hamill against Jon Jones - 2 of my favorites (and I have only seen Jones once)

Just saw that too. First they lose Evans/Griffin now this big bummer as this was a string of nice top level matchups. I guess theyre targeting UFC 108 for Lesnar/Carwin. Is it true Carwin has NEVER gone more than 2:11 in a fight? EVER?

Just your friendly neighborhood reminder tonight is the Fedor card on CBS.

Question might not be can Rogers win but can he even last long enough to hurt Fedor?!?!

And on that note if anybody ever doubted the resilience to pain and or the "thick skull" of the Slavic/Russian people Fedor proved it last night. Has his nose broken on the first punch, and WHAT A PUNCH it was, but he survives the ground and pound onto that nose a few minutes later and comes back to land what might have been an even more incredible punch. He threw all his weight into it and caught Rogers right on the "Button" and turned the lights out and after the stoppage Rogers didn't even know he got knocked out... "What happened" he asked.

Trip's point about judges rang true tonight. Sad thing was it was a pure striking match. Wren CLEARLY won the first round almost knocking Nelson out, and round 2 really could've gone either way but I had it for Nelson on effective strikes and power of blows landed. How 2 judges scored it 20-18 Nelson is unbelievable as it was a friggin' boxing match scored by boxing judges (That one Patricia Jarman has a history of screwy scoring in Boxing).
