KNO₃ 8g + powdered sugar (sucrose) 4g, powder mixed (stirred)

We figured this was about the simplest thing that could possibly work. Its very close to the typical recipes but without the more complicated (and incrementally riskier) grinding and melting steps.

In the open tray test it lit easily, burned fast (vigorously), with smoke but no clear flame.
