Finding stuff on the Wiki

This wiki is a collection of (mostly) short chunks of text, images, and so on. Each of these chunks is called a "page" or a "tiddler" (don't ask me why)). Each one has a name (this one is wiki instructions, some tags (such as meta ), and a body (what you're reading now).

The pages are there for you to read. To find new pages to read you can follow links (blue text) on any page by clicking on them. You can also click on the tags. You can also find interesting pages by using the search box on the right hand side.

If you get too many pages open you can close them by pressing . If you close too many so you have nothing to read you can get back to the start by pressing the . But be careful, this also closes any other pages you had open.

Editing stuff on the Wiki

You (assuming you're a member) can edit anything on this wiki.

  1. Open the page for editing
    • Go to the page you want to edit (you can follow a link or use the search box to the right).
    • Press the in the upper right control block of the pare you want to edit.
    • If the page you want to edit doesn't exist, just press the at the top of the right hand column.
  2. Make your changes
    • If you are creating a new page you will need to give it a title. If you are editing a page that already exists you can edit the title too, but you probably shouldn't since this can break all the links that refer to the page.
    • You can add or delete tags to the page. You can make up anything you want as a tag but you should probably use one of the ones that already exist.
    • You can edit the body. It works sort of like google docs but not really. All of the formatting is controlled by special characters.
      • Make links with double square brackets like so [[this is a link]]
      • Make links that show some text but go someplace else like so: [[some text|someplace else]]
      • Make macros with <<...>>. Right now the most useful macros are <<text-needed>> and <<footer>>
    • You can also add fields. These control things like the order something shows up in lists (seq).
  3. If you are happy with them, click to save them. If not, click to abandon them.
