A chemical rocket engine has at least two parts:

1. A combustion chamber where some energetic reaction takes place and
2. A choke nozzle that is big enough to release the pressure (so that it is NOT a pipe bomb) but small enough that the gas or liquid that is escaping has to leave at high speed.
