These are the visual effects you can use as of Rails 0.12.1. You have to include the [[Prototype]] library for this to work.

Call them like this in your [[ajax]] links: 
<pre>
:complete => "new Effect.X('element-id')"
</pre>
 or in your elements' event handlers like this: 
<pre>
<div onclick="new Effect.X(this)">...</div>
</pre>

* Effect.Highlight(id) -- Yellow Fade Technique
* Effect.Fade(id) -- Fades out
* Effect.Appear(id) -- Fades in
* Effect.Scale(id, percent) -- Scales element
* Effect.Squish(id) -- Makes element smaller until it disappears
* Effect.Puff(id) -- Makes element puff in a cloud-like animation
