JACINTH PEAKS

The mountain range around Talcama, famed for amethyst and jasper mines.

JER-HAWK

The most commonly used currency in the Andorian League. Struck of copper in rectangular shapes bearing the likeness of Priam XIII, similar in size and shape to the Hawk (copper instead of nickel colored, smooth edges). One will buy a mug of ale in a common Tavern; takes eight to make up a Hawk. Commonly referred to as "jerries."

JHARL

A common coin of the Karnhorn Empire. Worth five cehkyls, or one-fifth of a zanghar, it is a large copper coin stamped with the crossed sword and flail over a square hole. (See Cehkyl and Zanghar)

JOBOOL

At her most basic level, a prostitute. But in the Karnhorn Empire, the Jobool is much, much more than that. She is confidant, someone that the businessmen of the Empire can go to discuss business with and know their secrets will be kept, to pour out their hearts in regards to their personal problems, to have any service--from conversation to sex--performed. A Jobool is highly respected, very well trained, and considered very high in Karnhorn society. Rarely does she leave her House, delegating most tasks to servants. The owner of a House of Pleasure, who has worked her way into the confidence of high-ranking nobles, is granted the title of Mejobool. A Mejobool is accorded great freedom and tremendous respect, much more than the noble wives and daughters of Imperial families--who are Ladies, and belong to another society entirely. The Jobool moves in the world of men like a man, and it is not uncommon for her to be seen arguing with a man in the comfort of her House. Other than gladiators, Jobools have the greatest freedom for women in the Empire.
