Places of interest in Lyn TirianThe Blue Boar: The Blue Boar is a tavern on the waterfront in Lyn Tirian. There's nothing remarkable about it--the food and liquor are decent, the waitresses moderately good looking and friendly, the patrons a mixed lot who quarrel and carouse without fatalities. Most nights, the barroom is moderately crowded with laborers, artisans, off-duty guardsmen, and an assortment of people from the arena--staff and a few gladiators. The Singing Bear: The Bear is a tavern just outside the city's walls near the western gate, and it caters to a rough crowd. This two-story stone building has been a tavern of some sort for more than a century and has generally served the men who work the wagon road that passes Lyn Tirian, running from the distant dwarven kingdom to the north down into the heart of the Empire. Since the arena was built to the west of town, it has served the lower echelons of the arena staff, the rougher elements of the fans, and such of the gladiators that have cared to patronize it. The ale is very good here, and the food not too bad; the prices are reasonable...but as often as not, those who come to the Bear do so in the expectation of seeing a fight--and a fight there usually is. Although Black Rako, the bartender, and his two bouncers generally keep things fairly quiet in the taproom--well, not-violent, anyway; there's generally a lot of yelling (some call it singing) and rough horseplay--there is an enclosed yard out back. The rails around the yard are frequently crowded with customers watching and betting on fights of all sorts--armed men, unarmed men, animals...if it fights, it might end up in the yard at the Singing Bear. (And if it's lucky, it'll be sober at the time.)
