Zur Danath

Zur Danath is an ancient city that was once--at the very dawn of the Empire--the first capital. All that remains from that time, however, are the tombs of those forgotten rulers, cut into the living stone of the cliffs that rise on either side of the wide valley of the Ahdal Gourin and along its tributaries. There are rumors--when are there not?--that the tombs conceal great treasures, but also that there are dire curses on them to protect them from grave robbers. In any case, the Emperor has decreed that the tombs shall not be disturbed without his consent, for he claims the forgotten lords buried there to be his ancestors.

The wealth of modern Zur Danath is in weaving cotton, linen, and silk. Tapestries, carpets, and yard goods are created in the workshops of this southern city which rival those produced anywhere else in the known world.

The Lord Governor of Zur Danath is Ghandal ten Aberin; Subgovernor Magistrate Linzir ten Ron rules the city.
