Yabana: a cane-like plant with fleshy leaves that grows in the semi-swampy Lerono district of Dal Shang's Harbor Town and in similar sites along the coast south of the city; it is considered "unwholesome" and does sometimes cause contact dermatitis (like a mild case of poison ivy). It is very decorative, having large silky fruiting plumes similar to those of pampas grass; the plumes are generally white or yellow and the leaves are blue-green. It is the host to several varieties of parasitic Coastal Orchis. Yanahar: one of the Ten Baronies that united to form the Kingdom of Danath, before the birth of the Empire. It was located mostly in what is now the Upper River District of Danath. Yanin-So: the final month of the Adantri year, commonly called Yenso. It is the equivalent of December and is named for the Yaniarin Dynasty. Yashmak: a veil worn by the women of Mazgourrah and many other Ratani towns, covering the nose and mouth. Yenso: common name for the twelfth month. See Yanin-So. Yen Zar-Khrisu Valley: a name applied to the southern part of the An-Kiu Valley, most especially to the part south of the White Jade River and west of the An-Kiu. In pre-Imperial days and during the earliest days of the Empire, there was a kingdom called Yen Zar here; Tiron the Usurper, who ruled the Empire between the second and third dynasties, annexed Yen Zar to the Empire and added the "Khrisu" part to indicate that like his own kingdom of Tien-Khrisu, it was an autonomous region within the greater one. Yen Zar lost all autonomy under the third dynasty, regained some of it during the fourth, and became independent once again during the fifth dynasty, forming a buffer state between Lirith Kai and the Sendori kingdom.
