Liho An-Min is located on the Great Western Route at the western end of a pass through the Blue Hills which are behind Dal Shang. It is small, as cities in Lirith Kai go--about ten thousand people, not counting transients. The city itself is in a valley which opens onto the western end of the pass, and the pass is controlled by an ancient fortification. Though it is now wholly within the Empire, the fort is still manned--at one time, it guarded the heart of the Empire, the An-Kiu Valley, from invasion by forces that sailed across the Trier Sea. (Nobody actually SAYS that it was an Alastarian kingdom that attempted the invasion, and it was so long ago that the present kingdoms may not even have existed, but everyone THINKS it.)

The land around Liho An-Min, especially in the hills, is orchard country. The hillsides are terraced from foot to crown to grow nut and fruit trees. The sloping plains of the western part of the province are given over to grain and vegetables and the raising of fine horses.

But it is under the hills that is found the wonder of Liho An-Min, the Rainbow Caves of Liho. Though semi-precious stones: jasper and chalcedony, alabaster, jacinth, onyx and agate, amethyst and rose quartz, may be found in the caves, they have never been mined. At first, in the dimly remembered days before there was an Empire, the Caves were the property of the Warlords of Liho. The next-to-the-last Warlord, one Tiensal ten Kahar Liho, gave the Caves to the Emperor of his day (this was when the Empire was smaller, but pressing the borders of Liho), and they have been royal property ever since. Two decades later, Tiensal's son Chandar chose to back Tarinian ten Usanar in his attempt to usurp the throne of the Empire--and Tarinian lost. Liho has been a part of the Empire ever since.
