Lubana OolingLubana Ooling lies south of Korvan Saleh on the western slopes of the Han Torra Khang where the Diamond Trail branches: the eastern branch goes over the Sim Luba Pass to Tilal Ming, and the western branch follows the western side of the mountains down to the coast at Kala Jambu. A lesser road leaves the city for the western plains; locally it is called the Genarit Track. The people of Lubana Ooling are tall, as are most Adantri, but darker of skin through inter-marrying with the dark-skinned people further south. But they are truly Adantri in their love of color. Boldly patterned fabrics are their specialty and their joy; they do not bother with embroidery but deck themselves with masses of jewelry for further adornment. Lubana Ooling is a busy trading center and famed for its huge bazaar, said to be the largest and most diverse in the Empire. Rumor has it that you can buy ANYTHING in the bazaar of Lubana Ooling... Almost as famous as the bazaar is the Genarit gold--a seemingly endless trickle of gold dust, nuggets, and shaped metal that comes in along the Genarit Track. The small, lean, brown-skinned people who call themselves Genarit appear at the dark of every moon on their long-legged camels. They wear brown kilts and tunics and hooded robes, and belts and collars of precious metals and polished stones. The dust and the nuggets might be from anywhere--who can say?--but the gold worked into jewelry and small figurines...its like is not seen anywhere but at the end of the Genarit Track in Lubana Ooling. Men have tried--often they have tried--to travel west along the Track and find the source of the gold, but the Genarit guard themselves well, and no man has ever returned from such an expedition. Because it is a border province, Lubana Ooling has a substantial military presence. There are cavalry here, but most are infantry, for the land is more forested than not. The province is governed by Lord Governor Kasel ten Djarro, the city by Subgovernor Magistrate Aldar ten Zaruba.
