Though the Ratani Emirates are independent of the Empire of Lirith Kai, that was not always the case, and there are many Imperial citizens today with Ratani roots. Physically, they are of medium height and stocky, dark-skinned with curly black hair (the men are usually bearded) and black eyes. Their faces are broad and their noses usually prominent, often hooked.
