KINIAR

The population of Kiniar Province is considered to be "non-Adantri," and also, which is surprising given the area, non-Ratani. Scholars theorize that the Kiniar may be a remnant of some aboriginal population of the Ratani area; the Kiniar agree with this, although they are not too pleased with the implications of "aboriginal." They claim they had a high culture here when the Adantri were still living in mud huts, and point to the ruins in the eastern desert in support of this. It is true that the ruins are impressive, but the scholars claim that they are not so very old--not much older than the Empire, and probably much younger... Of course, the scholars in question are Adantri.

In appearance they are quite tall--taller than the Southern Adantri, anyway, and thin, dark-skinned and with straight black hair which both sexes wear as long as possible in a sort of pony tail, and black eyes; their faces are narrow and aquiline. They habitually accent the narrow length of their eyes with a sort of black eyeliner.
